About the Church
The stone church was found at the place where the longest surviving mission of the Southeast, the Nombre de Dios operated until the mid 1700's. The foundation of this building revealed that it was a tremendous building measuring approximately 90 feet by 40 feet. Archaeologists assume that this makes it among the largest churches that existed in Spanish Florida. Coquina stone and tabby foundations were discovered at the historic site.
