Additional Kauai Travel Tips
To get the best deals, it’s a good choice to make sure you are scheduling with a local business. People who actually know the island can provide insider tips and make sure you have a quality experience.
* KAUAI’S NORTH SHORE
With its blend of rugged mountains cascading waterfalls, eclectic towns of unique shops, galleries and its wide variety of restaurants, Kauai’s North Shore will enchant you.
Enjoy the lap of luxury in the upscale resort area of Princeville, play a round of golf on a premier course, visit one of numerous amazing beaches or spend a lovely honeymoon in the villages of Hanalei, Wainiha and Haena. If you’re seeking a luxury Kauai rental, this is one of the best places to find it.
Choose anything from historic bed & breakfasts, charming inns, secluded cottages and rental houses.
* SOUTHERN KAUAI
The sunlit South shore offers a huge number of things to do! The main areas of the South Shore are made up of Kalaheo and the casual but beautiful resort area of Poipu. Just a few of the rewards you'll enjoy are the wonders of nature, many beaches, oceanfront resorts, an upscale shopping area, and a variety of private Kauai beachfront vacation rentals.
Visitors of all ages can experience the fantastic kayaking, snorkeling, horseback riding and swimming on the warm southern coast. It will be hard to decide which activity to do 1st when you come across the walking trails, waterfalls, picture-perfect golden sand beaches, and the beautiful rocky coastlines!
* EAST KAUAI
Kauai's East Side is steeped in history and culture and is aptly named the "Coconut Coast". The coconut grove comes alive here, with coconut palms accenting the landscape! Don’t miss your chance to take offerings such as the Wailua River State Park, Fern Grotto, Wailua Falls, and other gems.
The beaches of the Coconut Coast are its largest draw, with Anahola as its beach furthest north. Coconut Coast’s Lydgate Park has 2 ocean pools encircled by lava rock, which creates yet another benefit to the coast. These quiet ocean pools welcome children, families and beginning snorkelers.
Kapaa and the surrounding areas of Lihue and Wailua offer easily affordable rentals right on the beach, as well as great shopping, with a blend of funky and delicate items, including Hawaiian crafts, souvenirs, jewelry and fine art.
* KAUAI’S WESTERN SHORE
Kauai’s Western shore is popular for its stunning Na Pali Coast and the grandeur of the Waimea Canyon, but it also offers the country charm of Hanapepe Town, hiking amidst rare plants, precious birds in danger of extinction and a lot more!
Hawaii’s largest stretch of sandy beach, situated on Polihale State Park, is a sunbather's Utopia! Surrounded by striking cliffs, clear skies and roaring waves, you could spend a whole day just taking in the beauty.
Beautiful rental homes, quaint cottages and even beachfront resorts offer a pleasant choice of accommodations in quite a few small villages, including Waimea, Hanapepe and Kekaha. Finding the best deals when it comes time to pay
When the time comes to pay, you get better deals when paying with checks. By simply asking to pay with checks, you could save an extra 5%! It’s often a win-win situation, since agencies normally pay a minimum of 4% in credit card fees.
Damage deposits for exclusive rentals
Most Kauai vacation rentals require refundable damage deposits that can range from a few hundred dollars to several thousand.
There are two ways to avoid damage deposit charges. First, ask your travel or vacation property agency if there is a travel insurance policy available, which will cost you a fraction.
As an alternative, ask to have a hold placed on your credit card, rather than a charge. Holds on your credit card are free and released within two weeks of the end of your stay—if that you haven't damaged/made firewood of any property of course (but we know you'd never do that).
Security Deposits
Security deposits are deducted from your final balance due, usually 30-90 days prior to arrival on the island. With a little effort, you are more likely to choose the Hawaii vacation experience that is best for you. It's not too hard and can build you up some nice anticipation for your holiday. You can find most everything you need by visiting travel websites. If you still have any unanswered questions, you should be able to contact an agent via e-mail or telephone for assistance. You may well even end up with the vacation home of your dreams!
