My trip to South Beach-Miami
At one time, I have visited Miami, Florida 5 times within 5 years. The reason was simple; I loved Miami. The most memorable experience was in March 2005. It was during the Winter Music Conference. It was a great time. I still talked about it till this day. Miami is a city you dream about going to. Once you are there, you still cannot believe a place like this exists. When I visited Miami, my place of choice is South Beach. South Beach or SoBe is located between the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay. It is on the southern part of Miami Beach, Florida. This is where I spend my wonderful vacation to South Beach, Miami.
I will always go on long weekends. I will arrive in Miami from Chicago on Friday, and return on a Monday. When I arrive and have check into my hotel, I walk towards Ocean Drive. It is a great sight. The beautiful people come out to play. If you do not know what I am talking about, watch the movie Miami Vice or Bad Boys 1 and 2. They are great movies that show off Miami. When I am out of dinner, my first restaurant I visit is Grill Fish. This restaurant is located on Collins Avenue and Espanola Way. They specialize in grilling their fish and seafood. I discovered this place when I first visited Miami. It has been my signature restaurant. After dinner, I explore the early nightlife. The night will start with visiting the bars on Ocean Drive. My favorite is Wet Willies. They have drinks named Superman and Call a Cab. Do not let the fact that they are frozen drinks fool you. They are good and pack a punch. Since it is a first night in South Beach, I usually return to my hotel at around 5am.
Saturday is my favorite time in Miami. It is magic time everywhere. Having lunch at Ocean Drive is so cool. You get to enjoy gorgeous weather over your meal. It does not get any better than that. After lunch, I go shopping on Washington Avenue. There you can find some great deals. Next, I will return to Ocean Drive and visit Mangos. My suggestion is order the quesadilla platter with a frozen Margarita. You will be on cloud nine. Saturday night is when the city comes alive. You will know you are in South Beach. Washington Avenue is the center of all the major night clubs. Cameo and Mansion are the most visited. There are others that are small but very good. My suggestion is to visit either B.E.D. or Opium. You get party until 5am. If you feel like the night is still young, take a cab to Downtown Miami. Did I mention Miami has the best after parties in the US? If I did not, I am so sorry. You will be told of a few nightclubs that have after parties. Forget about them. You want the best when you visit Miami, the best after party is at Space. This place is amazing. When you walk in and go upstairs, the first thing you will notice is the roof. What roof you say? There is no roof. You are indoors and outdoors at the same time. At first you are dancing under the stars and before you know it the sun is up. Space is my favorite place for an after party.
Sunday is where you calm down from two great days of eating, drinking and partying. The best place for a Sunday brunch is Niki Beach. You walk down Ocean Drive and head south until you reach 1st Avenue. It is outdoor and right on the beach. They have a traditional and international breakfast. Everything is fresh and made to order. All you can eat. After your brunch, you can walk on the beach back to your hotel. It is a great time to relax and reflect. Sunday evening is not as wild as the two previous nights, but you can still find a place to party. My recommendation is to visit Pearl. Pearl is a nightclub inside of Niki Beach. The great thing about this club, the beach is right outside. It is a beautiful sight to see at night. You can relax, dance and meet great people. This is a great way to cap off your Miami vacation.
